How to support your hockey kids!

Besides the kids' team and coaches - parents play a super important role in kids youth hockey development. Parents can support their young hockey players in many different ways. Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Encourage your child to practice and work on their skills, both on and off the ice. Help your child set goals for their hockey development and encourage them to work towards those goals.

  2. Support your child's participation in organized hockey by making sure they have the necessary equipment and transportation to practices and games.

  3. Show an interest in your child's hockey career by attending their games and asking them about their progress.

  4. Encourage good sportsmanship and a love for the game by being a positive role model and focusing on effort rather than winning.

  5. Help your child balance their hockey commitments with their other responsibilities, such as school work and family time.

  6. Find a good coach or program that will help your child develop their skills and love for the game.

  7. And finally, don't put too much pressure on your child to succeed. Remember that hockey is supposed to be fun and that young players should be allowed to make mistakes and learn from them. So, finding the right balance is key.
